The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) has announced that the grace period for residency and visa violators, which began on September 1 and ends on December 31, is the final opportunity to settle violations without penalties or a ban on re-entering the UAE.
Categories Excluded from the Grace Period
The following categories are not eligible for the grace period:
- Individuals who violated residency and visa rules after September 1, 2024.
- Those listed in administrative reports for employment discontinuation or absence.
- Deported individuals from the UAE or GCC countries.
- Individuals who entered the UAE illegally.
Grace Period Details and Extension
The grace period initially ran from September to October and was extended for two more months, ending on December 31, 2024. This initiative coincides with the UAE's 53rd Union Day celebrations and aims to support violators in settling their status, whether by leaving the country or adjusting their residency status.
Penalties After the Grace Period
- Fines will be reimposed on violators who fail to resolve their status within the grace period.
- Inspection campaigns will be intensified, with legal action taken against violators identified after the deadline.
Additional ICA Services
The ICA offers a fee exemption for delayed Emirates ID renewal through its website and mobile application. Applicants can complete the process in five steps, including updating their details and submitting the application online.
